Job Description:

Role Overview


The Head / Manager – Media Engineering & Technical Operations is responsible for leading and managing the department’s end-to-end technical ecosystem, including broadcast engineering, IT infrastructure, streaming systems, studio technology, and operational reliability.

This role ensures seamless execution of live and recorded broadcasts, robust IT systems, scalable technical workflows, and continuous process improvement while maintaining high standards of quality, security, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities


1. Broadcast Engineering Oversight

  • Oversee all broadcast systems including PCR, MCR, live switching, OB setups, and studio infrastructure.
  • Ensure uninterrupted live operations and transmission reliability.
  • Maintain high broadcast quality standards across audio, video, and signal integrity.
  • Supervise installation, calibration, and maintenance of broadcast equipment.
  • Ensure redundancy planning and backup systems are fully operational at all times.


2. IT & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee servers, storage systems, networking, firewalls, and internal IT infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all digital assets and systems.
  • Lead and streamline IT support services for internal teams.
  • Manage cloud integrations, streaming backends, and digital media workflows.
  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols and data protection measures.


3. Media Systems & Technology Integration

  • Design and implement scalable technical workflows for production and post-production.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and deploy new media technologies aligned with business growth.
  • Oversee streaming infrastructure including RTMP workflows, CDN integrations, and encoding systems.
  • Standardize automation systems to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure seamless compatibility across production, broadcast, and digital distribution platforms.


4. Operational Excellence & Risk Management

  • Develop and implement SOPs for all technical and engineering operations.
  • Establish preventive maintenance schedules to minimize system downtime.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments for live events and critical broadcasts.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and technical standards.


5. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and manage engineering, broadcast, IT, and technical operations teams.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and create skill development roadmaps.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with production, editorial, and operations teams.
  • Identify training needs and ensure continuous technical upskilling.


6. Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage vendor relationships for broadcast equipment, software, and technical services.
  • Oversee technical procurement and infrastructure investments.
  • Optimize cost efficiency while maintaining operational quality.
  • Negotiate and manage AMC contracts and technical service agreements.


Job Requirement:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Media Engineering, Electronics, IT, or a related field.
  • 10- 15+ years of experience in broadcast engineering, media technology, or technical operations.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast workflows, networking infrastructure, streaming technologies, and cloud systems.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional technical teams.
